A babysitting job, a house after dark and a telephone that will not leave a teenager alone: R. L. Stine’s The Babysitter is heading to the screen. Tubi announced the film on Sunday 11 October, and its short teaser is now available to watch.

What Happened
Tubi is making a live-action film based on Stine’s The Babysitter books. The streamer announced it around its New York Comic Con panel on 11 October and has released a 27-second concept teaser. Trevor Calverley will direct from a screenplay by Jem Garrard, who worked on Tubi’s Pumpkinhead films.
Watch the Teaser
The story follows 16-year-old Jenny, who takes a babysitting job to help pay for a writing programme. A prowler has already frightened girls in her town. Then Jenny starts receiving threatening calls, and everyone around her becomes a possible suspect. The teaser establishes the mood; it does not reveal the cast or show enough of the film to judge how closely it will follow the books.

Why It Matters for Viewers
Stine’s early teen thrillers lean on ordinary places turning unsafe. That makes The Babysitter a neat fit for a compact film, and a different prospect from another large-scale Goosebumps adventure. Tubi has already released two Pumpkinhead films and has Afraid of Clowns lined up for 2027. This announcement adds one of Stine’s longer-running book series to that slate.
Movieversalfilm Takeaway
The premise gives this adaptation a simple hook: Jenny must keep a child safe while she works out who is calling her. Tubi’s teaser promises atmosphere, but the film still has much to show us. The cast, precise 2027 date and UK plans remain open.
Would you rather see The Babysitter play as a slow-burning mystery or a brisk teen thriller?
