Avengers: Doomsday World Series Look: Reed Richards Takes the Mound

Trailer Drop · Update · 24 October 2026

Update: yesterday we reported that Marvel would air a special Avengers: Doomsday preview during Game 1 of the World Series. It went out on Friday night, and the full 60-second spot is now online, posted by MLB in collaboration with Marvel Entertainment. Avengers: Doomsday opens in UK cinemas on Friday 18 December.

The preview is built around a new scene from the film, set at Ebbets Field in the Fantastic Four’s retro-future world, first seen in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, in a Brooklyn cap, steps up to throw the ceremonial first pitch to Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm, and stretches his arm in a way no scout has ever seen.

For the World Series version, Marvel cut five baseball stars into the dugout: Bryce Harper, Freddie Freeman, Randy Arozarena, Junior Caminero and Jacob Misiorowski, who also started Game 1 for the Brewers. “These ceremonial first pitches are getting bigger and bigger,” Misiorowski says.

There is new footage from the wider film too. Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man can’t work out which Cap people mean now that Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson carries the shield. Then the sky turns, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom appears over the ballpark, and Harper sums it up: “We gotta go. Like, now.”

It is a teaser rather than a full trailer, and some fans had hoped for more, but it gives Doom a proper entrance and a first proper look at Reed’s family on a collision course with the rest of the Marvel universe. Anthony and Joe Russo direct, and this morning’s news brought word that Sandra Hüller has a secret cameo.
