Independent Film Company has released the official trailer for Best Pancakes in the County, a crime thriller with a comic streak from writer-director Ken Sanzel. Set over one explosive night, it turns an unassuming small-town diner into the centre of a deadly standoff between rogue federal agents, a fast-talking con man with a dangerous past and a waitress with secrets of her own. Nicolas Cage, Justin Long and Shelley Hennig lead the cast, and the film opens in US cinemas and on digital platforms on Friday 20 November 2026.
What the Trailer Shows
The trailer sets up a botched heist and a return to the remote diner where everything goes wrong at once. Cage plays the con man known as S.O.B., sporting a striking prosthetic nose, while Justin Long is Cookie and Shelley Hennig is Dolly, the waitress nobody should underestimate. As loyalties blur and the crooked agents keep multiplying, survival depends on who can outthink, and outgun, everyone else.
Sanzel, whose earlier films include Kill Chain, Blunt Force Trauma and Scar City, wrote and directed. The supporting cast includes Lauren German, Ravi Patel, Brandon Mychal Smith, Kelly Greyson, Jaylen Moore and Michael Sirow.
It is one of several Cage projects in the news this month: he has also been cast in True Detective season five and the London-shot hacker thriller C.L.A.Y.
