Trailer Drop · 23 October 2026
The BBC has released the first trailer for Honey, a new darkly comic Cold War thriller from writer Emma Moran. The six-part series launches on BBC iPlayer and BBC One from Saturday 14 November, so UK viewers get it first.

Love, Lies and the Stasi
East Berlin, 1982. Martha (pronounced Marta), 24, is a deep cover agent for MI6. She is surrounded by enemies and her cover is always close to being blown, so she works hard to stay out of sight of Friedrich, the new Stasi head of counter-espionage against British targets. Then she gets caught between Friedrich and Aaron Neeland, a reckless, arrogant and very attractive CIA operative posing as Kurt Fischer. As the BBC puts it, the risk of being garrotted is nothing compared with the horror of falling in love.
Ann Skelly (House of Guinness) plays Martha Schmitt, with Nate Mann (Masters of the Air) as Kurt Fischer, Jannis Niewöhner (Munich: The Edge of War) as Friedrich Baumann and Rory Kinnear (The Diplomat) as Graham Anderson.
Radio Times reports that the trailer confirms long-running rumours that Honey is a prequel to Killing Eve, with Skelly playing a young Carolyn Martens, the MI6 spymaster Fiona Shaw played in that series. The BBC’s own announcement does not mention Killing Eve.
Sid Gentle Films, the BBC Studios label behind Killing Eve, makes the series for the BBC and ZDF, in association with Fifth Season, which distributes it worldwide. Emme Hoy also writes. Toby MacDonald directs episodes one to three and Michelle Savill directs episodes four to six.
