Trailer Drop · 23 October 2026
StudioCanal has released a new theatrical trailer for the 50th anniversary re-release of The Man Who Fell to Earth, Nicolas Roeg’s 1976 science fiction classic starring David Bowie. The 4K restoration returns to UK cinemas nationwide on Friday 13 November.

Bowie’s Lonely Alien Comes Back
Bowie, in his first lead film role, plays Thomas Jerome Newton, an alien who comes to Earth in search of water to save his drought-stricken home planet. He uses his advanced technology to build a business empire with the help of patent lawyer Oliver Farnsworth, and falls for Mary-Lou, a hotel clerk, but his plan to return home is threatened when the US government closes in.
Candy Clark, Rip Torn, Buck Henry and Bernie Casey co-star. Paul Mayersberg wrote the screenplay, from Walter Tevis’s novel, and the film was produced by Michael Deeley and Barry Spikings for British Lion. The new trailer comes from StudioCanal UK and leans into the film’s strange, haunting mood, with Bowie at the centre of almost every shot.
The re-release marks 50 years since the film first opened in the UK. StudioCanal says the film was fully restored in 2015. A five-disc 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition follows on 16 November from the new StudioCanal Classics label, with the film on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, a 2CD soundtrack, a 100-page booklet with a new Candy Clark interview, new artwork by Aleksander Walijewski and a new 40-minute documentary, Bowie & Roeg: Aliens in America.
