A hard-partying New York club promoter sees his whirlwind lifestyle upended by the arrival of the 10-year-old son he never knew he had.
Club Kid is written and directed by Jordan Firstman, who also stars, and it opens in limited US cinemas this Friday through A24.

It comes for the bitchy jokes and stays for the big, messy heart.

Party Over
Firstman is a sharp comic writer, and the first half is full of arch, quotable jokes about nightlife and vanity. But the film steadily turns into something warmer, as Peter learns to share his life.
Cara Delevingne and Diego Calva are excellent in support.
A Real Heart
Critics have been unanimous in their praise, and it is easy to see why. The comedy never undercuts the emotion, and the father-son relationship feels lived-in.
At over two hours it is a touch long, but it rarely drags.
