All eight episodes of The Greatest, Prime Video’s Muhammad Ali drama, land today to glowing early reviews. Owen Wilson’s golf comedy Stick returns on Apple TV, Nicolas Cage is unforgettable in Pig on Film4 at 11.45pm, and the Korean chiller Sleep is free on Channel 4.

NEW TODAY: The Greatest season 1 on Prime Video
- Service: Prime Video, included with Prime
- Episodes: All eight episodes, out today
- Created by: Ben Watkins, with Lonnie Ali as an executive producer
- Starring: Jaalen Best, Omari Hardwick, Dana Gourrier and Michael Ealy
- Critics: Early reviews are strong. TheWrap calls it one of the year’s best TV dramas, and RogerEbert.com calls it a knockout
- UK availability: Streaming on Prime Video in the UK from today, Wednesday 4 November
This is the first authorised drama about Muhammad Ali’s life, and it follows the young Cassius Clay from his 1960 Olympic gold to his first fight with Sonny Liston in 1964. Newcomer Jaalen Best gets the voice, the swagger and the footwork without ever slipping into impersonation. British viewers should watch for the 1963 Henry Cooper fight in London, which critics say is staged almost blow for blow. Start tonight and you may well finish it by the weekend.
Perfect if you liked Ali, One Night in Miami or Creed. It was top of our list in Weekly Streaming Highlights, and now it is here.
NEW TODAY: Stick season 2 on Apple TV
- Service: Apple TV
- Episodes: Episodes one and two today, then one a week until 30 December, 10 in all

- Starring: Owen Wilson, Peter Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, Rhea Seehorn and Timothy Olyphant
- Critics: Season one scored 90% on Rotten Tomatoes
- UK availability: Streaming on Apple TV in the UK from today
Owen Wilson is back as Pryce Cahill, the washed-up golf pro who found a second life coaching teenage prodigy Santi. This time Pryce is betting on himself and chasing a comeback of his own, while Santi carries everyone’s expectations. Rhea Seehorn and Timothy Olyphant join the cast. It is warm, funny and easy to watch, and two episodes make a gentle start before something heavier later on.
Perfect if you liked Ted Lasso, Tin Cup or Shrinking.
ON TV TONIGHT: Nicolas Cage’s truffle-hunter drama Pig (2021), Film4
- Channel: Film4 at 11.45pm, until 1.30am
- Runtime: 1 hour 32 minutes
- Age rating: 15
- Directed by: Michael Sarnoski
- Starring: Nicolas Cage, Alex Wolff and Adam Arkin
- Critics: 96% on Rotten Tomatoes
- UK availability: On Film4 tonight. Also to rent or buy on the main digital stores
Forget the memes. Nicolas Cage plays Rob, a truffle hunter living alone in the Oregon woods, who heads back to Portland when someone steals his beloved foraging pig. It sounds like a revenge thriller, but it is something quieter and sadder: a film about grief, food and the people we used to be. Cage gives one of the best performances of his career. It is late, so set the recorder if you need to.
Perfect if you liked Leave No Trace, First Cow or The Wrestler.
NEWLY ADDED: Upgrade (2018) on Prime Video
- Service: Prime Video, included with Prime, added on Saturday 31 October
- Runtime: 1 hour 35 minutes
- Age rating: 15
- Written and directed by: Leigh Whannell
- Starring: Logan Marshall-Green, Betty Gabriel and Harrison Gilbertson
- Critics: 88% on Rotten Tomatoes
- UK availability: Streaming on Prime Video. Also to rent or buy on the main digital stores
Before he made The Invisible Man, Leigh Whannell made this lean, nasty sci-fi thriller. Logan Marshall-Green plays Grey, a mechanic left paralysed after an attack, who is given an experimental AI chip that lets him walk again and talks to him in his head. Then it starts doing the fighting for him. The fight scenes are brilliantly odd, and the ending will stay with you.
Perfect if you liked RoboCop, Ex Machina or John Wick. Plan more nights in with our UK Release Calendar.
HIDDEN GEM: Sleep (2023) on Channel 4
- Service: Channel 4’s streaming service, free with adverts
- Runtime: About 1 hour 34 minutes
- Age rating: 15
- Language: Korean, with English subtitles
- Written and directed by: Jason Yu
- Starring: Jung Yu-mi and Lee Sun-kyun
- Critics: 95% on Rotten Tomatoes; it premiered at Cannes in 2023
- UK availability: Free on Channel 4’s streaming service. Also to rent or buy on the main digital stores
A young couple are expecting their first baby when the husband starts sleepwalking, and what he does in the night gets more frightening every time. Is it a medical problem, or something else living in the flat? Jason Yu’s debut is tight, darkly funny and properly scary, and it gives Parasite star Lee Sun-kyun one of his last great roles. Most people missed it, and it costs nothing to watch.
Perfect if you liked The Wailing, Hereditary or Parasite.
STAR WARS CLASSIC: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) on Disney+
- Service: Disney+
- Runtime: 2 hours 13 minutes
- Age rating: 12
- Directed by: Gareth Edwards
- Starring: Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen and Riz Ahmed
- Critics: 84% on Rotten Tomatoes
- UK availability: Streaming on Disney+. Also to rent or buy on the main digital stores
Rogue One turns ten next month, and it still feels like the boldest Star Wars film of the Disney era. Felicity Jones plays Jyn Erso, a rebel with nothing to lose, who joins a ragtag crew trying to steal the Death Star plans. The war feels dirty and dangerous, the final battle on Scarif is spectacular, and the last ten minutes lead straight into A New Hope. If you loved Andor, this is where Cassian’s story ends.
Perfect if you liked Andor, The Dirty Dozen or Godzilla Minus One. Our last Star Wars pick was Andor, “Harvest”; find your next one in our Star Wars watch guide.
