Slayground Trailer: A24’s Haunted-House Massacre Sparks a Manhunt

What the Trailer Sets Up

A24’s official synopsis sets the scene: scare actor “Metal Mike” Graves wakes up inside a haunted attraction surrounded by the dead bodies of his co-workers, with no memory of how they got there. As a state-wide manhunt closes in, he races to uncover the truth, even if the trail leads straight back to him. A24 calls the new video an official teaser, and it keeps much of the mystery intact, opening on the massacre at the attraction and then turning into a fugitive thriller as the hunt for the suspected killer begins.

It follows the first teaser, which played in US cinemas in September before going online. That one was styled as grainy security-camera footage from deep inside the attraction and sent viewers to a viral companion website with a countdown clock pointing to 20 October. The title comes from the haunted attraction where Mike works, and A24 dropped the original name, October, once it decided not to release the film in that month.

Saulnier writes and directs, with Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein among the producers and Saulnier regular Macon Blair also involved. Smith leads a cast that includes Chase Sui Wonders, Stanley Simons, Sophie Wilde, Young Mazino, Imogen Poots and chef-turned-actor Matty Matheson, with James Badge Dale and Stephen Root. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross compose the score.
