Trailer Drop · 21 October 2026
Sony Pictures Classics has released the trailer for Bunker, Florian Zeller’s psychological thriller written for and starring Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz. The film gets an awards-qualifying run in select US cities on 11 December 2026 before opening across America on 15 January 2027.
What the Trailer Sets Up
Bardem plays Miguel, a successful London architect who is considering a prestigious offer to build a survivalist bunker for a tech billionaire. The project makes his wife, Sofia (Cruz), question their relationship of 17 years as the pair are drawn deeper into a life of extreme wealth, paranoia and fear, and the intrusion of an unsettling neighbour becomes yet another source of anxiety. Sony Pictures Classics describes it as a psychological thriller about the emotional and moral challenges facing a couple in an increasingly uncertain world.
Stephen Graham, Paul Dano and Patrick Schwarzenegger co-star. Zeller, who won the Oscar for adapting his own play The Father and later made The Son, wrote and directed. Bunker was an official selection at the Venice, Toronto and Zurich film festivals.
