SCTV Documentary Trailer: The Last Dance Director on Comedy’s Secret Hit

Trailer Drop · Official Trailer · 28 October 2026

Before they were stars, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara and Rick Moranis were making a scrappy sketch show in Canada. SCTV: The Greatest Show You’ve Never Heard Of, from The Last Dance director Jason Hehir, tells that story, and Netflix has released the official trailer ahead of its premiere on 30 October, including in the UK.

How a Small Canadian Show Made Comedy History

The documentary charts the rise, fall and lasting legacy of Second City Television, one of the most influential sketch comedy series ever made. Through interviews with surviving members of the cast and an emotional reunion in Toronto, it follows how a small Canadian production became a launchpad for some of comedy’s most celebrated names.

The trailer mixes archive sketches with new interviews, and Netflix promises never-before-shared stories and rare archive material. Eugene Levy, Martin Short and Rick Moranis are among those taking part.

Jimmy Kimmel is an executive producer alongside Scott Lonker and Hehir. It is one of a run of comedy documentaries Netflix has been releasing weekly through October. For what else is new to stream this week, see our Weekly Streaming Highlights: 25 October 2026 – 31 October 2026.
