Trailer Drop · Official Trailer 2 · 28 October 2026
ufotable, the animation studio behind Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, brings TYPE-MOON’s cult visual novel to the big screen in Witch on the Holy Night, and Crunchyroll has released a second official trailer set to supercell’s theme song “Yoru to Ao”. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment open the film in UK and Irish cinemas on 29 January 2027.

An Apprentice Magician Meets a Boy
Aoko Aozaki seems to be an ordinary high school girl, but she is secretly a Magician living in the modern world, though still only an apprentice. She shares a house with her housemate Alice Kuonji while she works to become a full-fledged Magician, and then she meets a boy. As Crunchyroll puts it, this is the beginning of one young girl’s story, the tale of a Witch.
The 40-second trailer is all mood, snowfall and spellwork, cut to “Yoru to Ao” by supercell. The film adapts the 2012 visual novel written by Kinoko Nasu and developed by TYPE-MOON, the company behind the Fate franchise.
UK audiences will be able to choose between the original Japanese with English subtitles and an English dub. For more anime on the big screen, see our Look Back Trailer: Hirokazu Koreeda Brings Fujimoto’s Manga to Life.
