Also this morning: Maika Monroe’s Victorian Psycho gets its final trailer, DC Studios starts work on a new John Constantine film, the Creep director sets a haunted-phone horror, Jessica Rothe lands two genre thrillers, Sarah Bolger’s FrightFest opener Nervous goes global, Aaron Eckhart heads for a hostile planet, and Maya Hawke leads the Magic: The Gathering movie.

The News That Matters
Adam Driver says his Kylo Ren days are over: “No more Star Wars”
- What happened: Asked on The Rich Eisen Show whether he was done playing Kylo Ren, Adam Driver said: “It’s over. No more Star Wars. We tried. We tried to do one more, but they were like, no, he’s dead.” Variety and ComicBook.com reported the interview
- The film that never was: Driver said he and Steven Soderbergh worked “really and earnestly” for about two years on The Hunt for Ben Solo, a standalone film that would have brought the character back, and called the script “really good”. He has said before that Lucasfilm loved the idea but Disney’s Bob Iger and Alan Bergman turned it down
- Could it come back?: “If they wanted to, fine… It’s not our call. I think the ship has sailed though,” Driver said. He called the fans’ campaign, which included a plane towing a “Save The Hunt for Ben Solo” banner over Disney’s Burbank studio, “pretty incredible”
- UK availability: No new release; Driver’s three Star Wars films stream on Disney+ in the UK
It is a blunt goodbye from the sequel trilogy’s best character, and a reminder that Lucasfilm’s big-screen plans now rest on new faces. Kylo Ren lives on in Marvel’s comics, as we covered in the Fall of Kylo Ren story in our 28 October Morning News.
Maika Monroe’s Victorian Psycho gets its final trailer

- What happened: Bleecker Street has released the final trailer for Victorian Psycho, Zachary Wigon’s gothic horror-comedy, and US tickets are now on sale, Bloody Disgusting reported
- The story: Maika Monroe (It Follows, Longlegs) plays Winifred Notty, an unusual governess who arrives at the remote Ensor House in 1858, after which members of staff start to disappear. Thomasin McKenzie, Jason Isaacs, Ruth Wilson and Hamnet’s Jacobi Jupe co-star, and Virginia Feito adapted her own novel
- The road so far: It premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes this year and opens in the US on 13 November, rated R for “strong bloody violence and brief sexual material”
- UK availability: True Brit Entertainment is releasing it in UK and Irish cinemas this autumn; UK date not yet confirmed
Monroe has become horror’s most reliable lead, and a blood-soaked period satire with Jason Isaacs and Ruth Wilson in support sounds like the sort of thing British audiences will lap up.
DC Studios develops a new John Constantine film

- What happened: DC Studios has hired Francis Galluppi, director of the upcoming Evil Dead Wrath, to write a John Constantine film, Deadline reported, citing sources. TheWrap also reported the move. The project is in very early development with no other names attached, and DC declined to comment
- The character: Constantine, the working-class British occult detective created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and John Totleben, first appeared in The Saga of the Swamp Thing in 1985. Keanu Reeves played him in the 2005 film Constantine, and Matt Ryan led NBC’s 2014 series
- What’s next for Galluppi: Warner Bros. releases his Evil Dead Wrath on 7 April 2028
- UK availability: Early development; UK date not yet confirmed
After the success of Clayface, DC clearly sees room for horror in its new universe, and a Liverpudlian chain-smoking exorcist is the obvious next step. Read why Clayface worked in our Clayface Super Review.
Creep director Patrick Brice sets psychosexual horror Violet

- What happened: Lili Reinhart, Danny Ramirez, Suki Waterhouse, Mark Duplass and Lukas Gage are teaming up for Violet, a psychosexual horror from Patrick Brice, director of the Creep films, Variety reported
- The story: Ramirez plays Sean, who finds love with his childhood friend Kate (Reinhart) two years after the sudden death of his fiancée Violet (Waterhouse). When the couple move into the home he shared with Violet, he starts receiving unsettling text messages from someone, or something, claiming to be his dead ex
- Who’s making it: Nick Antosca (Channel Zero, Antlers) wrote it with Alana B. Lytle, adapting his short story Ghostfish. FilmNation launches sales at the American Film Market
- UK availability: Filming from spring 2027; UK date not yet confirmed
Brice and Duplass made two of the best found-footage chillers of the last decade with Creep, so a reunion built around texts from the dead is worth watching.
Jessica Rothe’s sci-fi thriller Imposters lands a US release

- What happened: Imposters, the SXSW 2026 sci-fi thriller from first-time feature director Caleb Phillips, has been bought for the US by Brainstorm Media, which plans to open it in cinemas in early 2027, Variety reported
- The story: After a couple’s baby boy is abducted, his frantic mother finds a way to get him back, but her husband starts to suspect that whatever she has brought home is not their child. Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day), Charlie Barnett and Yul Vazquez star
- The road so far: Phillips also wrote the film, which has since played Beyond Fest, Sitges and the Edinburgh Film Festival. UK company Blue Finch Films has sold it across Europe, Canada, Australia and Latin America ahead of the American Film Market
- UK availability: Blue Finch Films will release it in the UK and Ireland itself; UK date not yet confirmed
A changeling story with a parent’s worst fear at its centre is a strong hook, and having a British company handle the UK release should mean it reaches us without a long wait.
Jessica Rothe and Obsession’s Cooper Tomlinson lead mystery-thriller Seeker
- What happened: Cooper Tomlinson, star of Blumhouse’s hit Obsession, Jessica Rothe and Mika Abdalla (Off Campus) will lead Seeker, Deadline reported. Adam Rehmeier directs from Michael Learner’s original script
- The story: Grant (Tomlinson), haunted by the unexplained disappearance of his fiancée five years earlier, is now a ride-share driver. When he picks up a passenger he is convinced is responsible, a game of cat and mouse spirals into something “far stranger, more disturbing, and deeply unhinged”
- Who’s making it: Hammerstone Studios, the company behind Barbarian, produces with Adam McKay’s HyperObject Industries. Filming is lined up for January 2027 in Washington State
- UK availability: Filming from January 2027; UK date not yet confirmed
Two new genre thrillers in one day for Rothe, who has been one of horror’s most likeable leads since Happy Death Day.
Sarah Bolger’s FrightFest opener Nervous goes global with Voltage
- What happened: Voltage Pictures has taken worldwide rights, excluding Korea, to Nervous, the psychological horror written and directed by Abner Pastoll (A Good Woman Is Hard to Find), Deadline reported. Sales start at the American Film Market
- The story: Sarah Bolger plays a woman who moves to the Korean countryside with her husband to save their marriage. They find a vinyl record that plays only silence, and after listening she loses the ability to hear men’s voices, sending her into paranoia and hallucinations. Ko Asung and Sungsoo Yune co-star
- The road so far: A South Korea-UK co-production shot around Seoul, it opened FrightFest 2026 and won two awards at Screamfest in Los Angeles
- UK availability: Premiered at FrightFest in London; UK release date not yet confirmed
Pastoll and Bolger made the excellent Belfast thriller A Good Woman Is Hard to Find together, and a horror built on silence is a clever twist.
Aaron Eckhart is stranded on a hostile planet in sci-fi adventure Dominion
- What happened: Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight) will star in Dominion, a sci-fi action adventure that starts filming in Kentucky on Monday 9 November, Screen International reported. Concourse Media begins worldwide sales at the American Film Market
- The story: Eckhart plays spaceship mechanic Nathan Quinn, who forms an unlikely alliance with a ferocious beast when he is stranded on a hostile planet, then uncovers a huge conspiracy as he fights to escape
- Who’s making it: Tony Aloupis directs from a script by Craig McGinnis. Al Bravo Films produces
- UK availability: Filming from 9 November; UK date not yet confirmed
A survival thriller crossed with a creature feature is a neat fit for Eckhart, who has been quietly making lean action films for years.
Maya Hawke will lead the Magic: The Gathering movie
- What happened: Maya Hawke (Stranger Things) will star in Legendary and Hasbro Entertainment’s live-action Magic: The Gathering, Variety reported, following a Deadline scoop. Her role has not been revealed, and she will anchor a yet-to-be-cast ensemble
- Who’s making it: Matt Johnson (BlackBerry), a longtime player of the card game, directs and is writing the script with Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald
- The game: Set across a multiverse of fantasy worlds, the game casts players as duelling wizards known as Planeswalkers
- UK availability: In development; UK date not yet confirmed
Hawke is next on screen in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, previewed in our Sunrise on the Reaping preview. The game’s own Star Trek crossover set arrives on 13 November.
