Trailer Drop · Official Trailer · 4 November 2026
Greg Heffley is swapping a snowy Christmas for a beach holiday. Disney has released the trailer for Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: The Getaway, the next animated Wimpy Kid film, and it starts streaming on Disney+ on Friday 4 December 2026.
A Holiday Vacay the Wimpy Way
Disney’s tagline promises a holiday vacay the wimpy way. The film is based on The Getaway, the 12th book in Jeff Kinney’s bestselling series, in which the Heffleys skip Christmas at home and head to a tropical island resort. As fans of the books will know, paradise does not go to plan.
It follows the animated Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2021), Rodrick Rules (2022) and Christmas: Cabin Fever (2023), which all went straight to Disney+. Disney also put out a new poster and key art for the film today.
It is one of several festive releases heading to streaming this winter, along with Disney+’s The 12 Dates of Christmas.
