The News That Matters
Tim Robbins and Giancarlo Esposito join Apple’s Monsterverse series
- What happened: Tim Robbins (Silo, Mystic River) and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian) will guest-star in Apple TV’s upcoming Legendary Monsterverse series centred on young Lee Shaw, Deadline and Variety reported
- The series: Showrunner Joby Harold’s untitled spin-off follows Colonel Lee Shaw — reprised by series lead and executive producer Wyatt Russell from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters — on a 1984 secret mission behind enemy lines to stop the Soviets unleashing a new Titan that could destroy the United States and tip the Cold War
- Who else is in it: The previously announced cast includes Millie Brady, Pilou Asbæk, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, Nyasha Hatendi, Connie Nielsen and Stana Katic. Character details for Robbins and Esposito are under wraps
- UK availability: Apple TV series; UK premiere date not yet confirmed. Apple TV+ is available in the UK
Legendary’s next theatrical Monsterverse film is Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, due in 2027. For the Toho side of the family, Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus Zero is in UK cinemas now — read our Godzilla Minus Zero Super Review.
Rosamund Pike to star in Leslye Headland’s body horror Feed

- What happened: Rosamund Pike will star in and produce Feed, a new body horror film from The Acolyte director Leslye Headland and screenwriter Daniella Isaacs, Variety reported. Deadline also covered the AFM sales launch
- The story: Inspired by the 2022 Finnish horror film Hatching, it follows a desperate mother who finds an obscure collagen supplement she hopes will turn her tween gymnast daughter into an influencer star; as the girl goes viral, a monstrous transformation begins
- Who’s making it: Pike produces through Primitive Streak. ZQ Entertainment financed development; The Veterans handle international sales and CAA Media Finance the US, with sales starting at the American Film Market
- UK availability: In development; UK date not yet confirmed
Pike called it a film about “the monstrosity of modern motherhood” and our appetite for fame. After Clayface, body horror is having a moment — see why that one worked in our Clayface Super Review.
Lionsgate and 3 Arts launch Render Road horror banner

- What happened: Lionsgate and subsidiary 3 Arts Entertainment are launching Render Road, a new horror production banner led by manager-producers Luke Maxwell and Will Rowbotham, Deadline reported
- What it will do: The banner will develop, produce and finance projects for digital as well as traditional films and television, working with both emerging and established artists. Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer had flagged a coming 3 Arts horror initiative on the studio’s Q2 earnings call
- The pipeline: 3 Arts’ recent horror slate includes Kane Parsons’s Backrooms, which passed 400 million dollars this summer, plus digital-native filmmaker projects tied to titles such as the new Blair Witch
- UK availability: Studio banner news; individual project UK dates not yet confirmed
Lionsgate wants a clearer lane into the digital-native horror boom, and Maxwell and Rowbotham stay as managers while curating the new label.
Finn Wittrock and Supriya Ganesh wrap Schwartzman’s horror Portrait

- What happened: Robert Schwartzman’s supernatural horror thriller Portrait has wrapped production and is heading to the American Film Market, Deadline reported
- The story: Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story) and Supriya Ganesh (The Pitt) star as Mark and pregnant wife Leah, who leave the city for a small-town farmhouse and find an unsettling antique portrait of a pioneer woman that unleashes supernatural visions and buried secrets. Whitmer Thomas, Este Haim and Andrew Divoff also star
- Who’s making it: Zac Stanford wrote the screenplay from a story by Schwartzman and Stanford. Upgrade Productions is handling the international proposition
- UK availability: Post-production; UK date not yet confirmed
A haunted portrait in a farmhouse is as old as gothic horror itself, but Wittrock and Ganesh give AFM buyers a recognisable double bill.

- UK availability: All five episodes launch on Prime Video in the UK on 4 December 2026; series 1 and 2 are available now
Capaldi remains one of British television’s sharpest draws — as he explained when he turned down Doctor Who tender bids in our 1 November Morning News.
Tilman Singer’s AFM thriller Home Shopper lines up Kate Mara and Ashton Kutcher
- What happened: Tilman Singer (Cuckoo) is directing Home Shopper, a dark comedy-thriller launching sales at the American Film Market, The Industry reported. Kate Mara, Leslie Mann, Ashton Kutcher and Billy Eichner star
- The story: In a loveless marriage, Penny Turner (Mara) becomes fascinated by a home-shopping host (Kutcher) and the network he works for. As the body count rises, she learns that the hardest thing to sell is a perfect alibi
- Who’s selling it: CAA is handling North American sales. Filming is expected in the first quarter or spring of 2027
