Trailer Drop · Official Trailer · 5 November 2026
A worker dies, and a stranger walks into the company to find out why. Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Karōshi, a near-future action thriller produced by John Wick director Chad Stahelski and starring Teo Yoo, Isabel May, Giancarlo Esposito and Cynthia Erivo. It opens only in UK cinemas on Friday 5 February 2027.

A Samurai Story in a Corporate Tower
Takashi Doscher wrote and directed the film. It is set in a Manhattan of the near future, where corporate loyalty and old cultural traditions now shape everyday life. When a mysterious outsider gets inside a powerful company after an employee’s death, he exposes the violent system hidden beneath its polished surface.
The title is the Japanese word for death from overwork, and the teaser poster leans into it: a lone figure in a straw hat, sword in hand, standing in red rain among faceless office workers. Teo Yoo, best known for Past Lives, leads the cast with Isabel May, Takehiro Hira from Shōgun, Bill Camp, Show Kasamatsu, Giancarlo Esposito and Cynthia Erivo, last seen here in Prima Facie.
Stahelski produces through his 87Eleven Entertainment banner with Jason Spitz, Alex Young and Nathan Kahane, so expect the same hand-built fight work that made the John Wick films stand out. Lionsgate lists the running time at 88 minutes.
