Trailer Drop · Official Trailer · 5 November 2026
In a future of endless winter and night, the dying are turned into plants so everyone else can breathe. Netflix has released the official trailer for Fool Night, the anime adaptation of Kasumi Yasuda’s acclaimed sci-fi manga and the first collaboration between studios Sunrise and Shaft. All episodes arrive on Netflix worldwide, including the UK, on Thursday 26 November 2026.

A World That Runs on Human Flowers
Thick clouds cover the sky and most of Earth’s plants have withered, leaving humanity short of oxygen. Its answer is Transfloration, a technology that implants seeds into people near death and turns them into plants. Society now survives on the meagre oxygen they give off.
Toshiro Kamiya lives in poverty, working to pay his taxes, his bills and the medicine for his mentally ill mother, while the cruelty around him slowly wears away his hope. Koki Uchiyama voices Toshiro, with Minako Kotobuki as Yomiko Horai, Junya Enoki as Akira Yatsuka, Aya Endo as Saeko Kanaeno and Kiyomitsu Mizuuchi as Jin Hiragishi.
Atsushi Yukawa directs, with series composition by Jin Tanaka and character designs by Robert Sato. The manga is still running in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior. It lands in a strong Netflix month that also includes the Korean thriller The Blue Road.
