A Confession That Opens a Closed Case

Netflix’s synopsis says the man confesses to killing two or three people. The harder question is why he has chosen to turn himself in now, and what he hopes to gain. His story is soon tied to another case that was supposedly closed, one that defies all logic.

Eduard Fernández and Mario Casas lead the cast, with Blanca Suárez, Nicolás Francella and Alexandra Jiménez. Paulo wrote the film with Guillem Clua. He says he wanted a thriller that carried “the emotional weight of a tragedy”, in which guilt and pain push the characters to erode their own moral principles.

The Spanish title is En nombre de otro, and it is a Juanita Films production. Netflix has had success with European genre films lately, including The Hunchback, Soul of Paris, and Paulo’s twisty mysteries have a big following on the service.
