Saoirse Ronan plays a primary school teacher who goes much too far in Bad Apples, the West Country-set dark comedy from Swedish director Jonatan Etzler. It opened in UK cinemas on 18 September through Paramount Pictures UK, and Republic Pictures and Paramount are now promoting its US digital release on 3 November with the official trailer.

A Classroom Fixed the Wrong Way
Ronan is Maria, a teacher doing her best to inspire a class of 10-year-olds while one unruly, chaotic pupil derails everything. With her career on the line and the boy’s behaviour spiralling, she makes a series of questionable decisions that end with her accidentally taking him and locking him in her home.
Then the class starts to flourish. Staff and parents are thrilled with the improvement, and Maria is left trying to backtrack out of a very complicated predicament. The trailer plays it as a pitch-black comedy, with Ronan’s nervy charm doing a lot of the work.
Jess O’Kane wrote the script from a story by Etzler and O’Kane, based on Rasmus Lindgren’s novel De Oönskade. Eddie Waller, Nia Brown, Jacob Anderson, Rakie Ayola, Robert Emms and Sean Gilder co-star.
