Trailer Drop · Official Trailer · 5 November 2026
She made a pinkie promise to be at her daughter’s football match. Then everything went wrong. Netflix has released the first trailer for Bad Day, an action comedy starring Cameron Diaz as a single mum having the worst day of her life. It arrives on Netflix worldwide, including the UK, on Friday 11 December 2026.

One Promise, One Terrible Day
Diaz plays Joy, who swears to her youngest daughter, Katie (Emma Pearson), that she will not miss her game. Then her car is towed, her bank card is declined and swallowed, a rogue TV wipes out a fish tank at her dad’s dialysis appointment, and she ends up accused of robbing a bank over $30.
Set to Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day”, the trailer has Diaz riding a scooter the wrong way down a motorway, caught in a police chase on a bus driven by her father, played by Ed O’Neill, and trying a hold-up with an asthma inhaler. Danielle Brooks and John Higgins play the police officers on her tail. Diaz calls it a “mom-com”.
Jake Szymanski, who directed Jury Duty, is behind the camera from a script by Laura Solon. Beau Bauman produces, reuniting with Diaz after Netflix’s Back in Action. Rhenzy Feliz, Mark Duplass, Ben Schwartz, Rob Corddry and Retta round out the cast. It lands on Netflix the same day as Oriol Paulo’s Proxies.
