Weekly Trailer Radar · Tuesday 20 October 2026 · Official trailers released 13–20 October

A week of new worlds and fresh starts. Greta Gerwig opens the door to the very beginning of Narnia, Night City gets a brand-new crew, an ancient epic heads for UK cinemas, Samuel L. This Week’s Trailer Radar

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew — Official Trailer

AI Artwork
  • Official trailer/channel: Netflix (uploaded Tuesday 13 October 2026)
  • Format: Fantasy adventure film
  • Release: In cinemas and IMAX from 12 February 2027, then on Netflix from 2 April 2027
  • Writer and director: Greta Gerwig
  • Principal cast: David McKenna, Beatrice Campbell, Daniel Craig, Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep
  • UK availability: In UK cinemas from Thursday 11 February 2027 (Sony Pictures UK); UK Netflix date TBC

Viewer Match

  • Best for: Families and fantasy viewers who want a sense of wonder before the familiar wardrobe story begins.
  • Maybe skip if: You only want the Pevensie children, Aslan and the wardrobe; this is the creation story that comes first.
  • Trailer mood: Bright, curious and quietly grand, building from a childhood experiment to a sweep across other worlds.
  • Why it stands out: Greta Gerwig starts C. S. Lewis’s saga at its beginning, with a defined cinema window before Netflix.

Netflix’s first trailer introduces David McKenna as Digory Kirke and Beatrice Campbell as Polly Plummer, whose experiments with magical rings open a route into other worlds. Instead of opening with lamp-posts and snow, Gerwig sells discovery: the birth of Narnia, the arrival of danger and the friendship at the centre of the journey. The scale has already registered with audiences: as our Morning News of 21 October reported, the trailer was watched more than 481 million times in its first seven days, according to Deadline. We first covered its arrival in the Entertainment News and Casting Round-up and the Screen Wrap for 14 October.

Movieversalfilm radar note: This is a trailer about beginnings, and that is its strength: it asks viewers to meet Narnia as something new rather than relying on nostalgia.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 — Official Trailer

  • Official trailer/channel: Netflix (uploaded Wednesday 14 October 2026)
  • Format: Ten-episode standalone anime series
  • Release: Streaming on Netflix from Tuesday 20 October 2026
  • Director: Kai Ikarashi, with story by Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka (Studio TRIGGER and CD PROJEKT RED)
  • Principal voice cast: Kentarō Tone, Kōki Uchiyama, Momoka Terasawa and Akari Kitō (Japanese); Clancy Brown, Nazeeh Tarsha, Valeria Rodriguez and Kimoy Lee (English)
  • UK availability: Streaming on Netflix in the UK now (from Tuesday 20 October 2026)

Viewer Match

  • Best for: Anime and science-fiction viewers who like their neon cities loud, violent and emotionally raw.
  • Maybe skip if: Graphic violence and relentless sensory overload are not what you want from a night in.
  • Trailer mood: Fast, aggressive and chrome-bright, cut like a warning that Night City has not softened.
  • Why it stands out: A wholly new crew and a standalone story mean newcomers do not need the first series to start.

“Fresh crew, fresh chaos,” promises Netflix, and the full trailer leans into exactly that: a new group of misfits on the streets of Night City in a standalone story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077. TRIGGER and CD PROJEKT RED are reunited, with Kai Ikarashi making his directorial debut after working on the first series. The official character line-up includes Weak Kingsley, a former edgerunner once known as “King”, and D, a Snake Nation netrunner hunting the killer who wiped out his clan, which gives the series its stated theme of redemption and revenge. We flagged the trailer in our Horror and Sci-Fi Brief of 15 October and the series in Weekly Streaming Highlights.

Movieversalfilm radar note: The trailer’s job was to prove that a sequel without the original cast could still feel essential, and its energy makes a persuasive case.

Ramayana: Rise of a Legend — New Trailer

AI artwork of a lone archer drawing a glowing golden bow on a rocky ridge at dawn, facing a towering shadowy crowned figure of smoke and fire above a golden island fortress across the sea
AI Artwork
  • Official trailer/channel: Sony Pictures Releasing UK (uploaded Thursday 15 October 2026)
  • Format: Mythological epic film, the first of two parts
  • Release: Part two is planned for Diwali 2027
  • Director: Nitesh Tiwari; produced by Namit Malhotra
  • Principal cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi
  • UK availability: In UK cinemas from Thursday 5 November 2026

Viewer Match

  • Best for: Viewers who want old-fashioned epic scale: gods, kings, armies and a clear battle between duty and pride.
  • Maybe skip if: Mythology-heavy spectacle and a two-part story are a hard sell for you.
  • Trailer mood: Solemn, sweeping and mounting, with the score doing as much work as the imagery.
  • Why it stands out: Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman share the music, and the film arrives in UK cinemas in under three weeks.

Sony’s English-language trailer opens on a world in the balance, “in an age of gods and kings”, and frames the conflict between Rama, a prince bound by duty and sacrifice, and Ravana, an immortal ruler powerful enough to shatter the cosmos. Crucially, it presents Rama as humanity’s hope: not a god, but a man. That choice gives Ranbir Kapoor’s hero a human scale against Yash’s Ravana. Behind the camera, action design by Guy Norris and Terry Notary and visual effects led by Dan Glass signal the international ambition. Our Ramayana Trailer Drop has the full credits.

Movieversalfilm radar note: With a UK cinema date only weeks away, this is the trailer that has to convert curiosity into tickets, and it plays to the big screen.

Frisco King — Official Teaser

AI Artwork
  • Official trailer/channel: Paramount+ (uploaded Thursday 15 October 2026)
  • Format: Eight-episode crime drama series; Tulsa King spin-off
  • Premiere: Friday 18 December 2026 on Paramount+, two episodes then weekly on Fridays
  • Writer: Taylor Sheridan; directors Christina Alexandra Voros and Michael Friedman
  • Principal cast: Samuel L. Jackson, Asa Germann, Kai Caster, Lilah Pate and Savanna Gann, with a special appearance by Sylvester Stallone
  • UK availability: UK date TBC (Paramount+ has announced 18 December; a UK launch date has not been separately confirmed)

Viewer Match

  • Best for: Tulsa King fans and anyone who wants Samuel L. Jackson in full command of a crime story.
  • Maybe skip if: Another Taylor Sheridan universe expansion feels like one too many.
  • Trailer mood: Short, swaggering and sly; a 30-second introduction rather than a plot breakdown.
  • Why it stands out: Jackson reclaims Russell Lee Washington Jr. as the lead of his own series after his Tulsa King appearance.

At just 30 seconds, this is a statement of tone rather than story. Paramount+ sets up Lee Washington landing in Frisco, Texas, where he discovers “a hustler’s playground hidden beneath the polished surface of American suburbia”. The contrast between manicured cul-de-sacs and a New Orleans gangster is the whole pitch, and Jackson carries it with ease. Sheridan writes all eight episodes, and Sylvester Stallone makes a special appearance. More detail is in our Frisco King Trailer Drop.

Movieversalfilm radar note: A teaser this brief lives or dies on its star, and Jackson’s presence does all the selling needed for a December launch.

Tony — Official Trailer (Prime Video)

AI Artwork
  • Official trailer/channel: Amazon Prime Video UK & IE (uploaded Tuesday 20 October 2026)
  • Format: Biographical coming-of-age comedy drama film
  • Release: Released in UK cinemas on 14 August 2026 (A24)
  • Director: Matt Johnson
  • Principal cast: Dominic Sessa, Antonio Banderas, Emilia Jones and Leo Woodall
  • UK availability: On Prime Video in the UK from Monday 26 October 2026

Viewer Match

  • Best for: Viewers who enjoy warm, scrappy summer stories and anyone curious about how Anthony Bourdain began.
  • Maybe skip if: You want a food film; this is a coming-of-age story first and a kitchen story second.
  • Trailer mood: Sun-soaked, cocky and affectionate, with the clatter of a working kitchen underneath.
  • Why it stands out: Antonio Banderas’s chef was the performance critics singled out when the film opened in cinemas.

“See where it all began,” says Prime Video, and the trailer introduces a 19-year-old Bourdain who insists he is not a cook, follows a girl to Provincetown and ends up washing dishes in an unremarkable seafood restaurant. Dominic Sessa plays him with the brashness the role needs, while Antonio Banderas’s chef becomes the unlikely mentor. This is not a new film but a new home: the trailer marks its streaming arrival for UK viewers who missed it in cinemas. Read our Tony Trailer Drop for the full cast and background.

Movieversalfilm radar note: It is the gentlest trailer of the week, and the most useful for anyone planning what to watch next week.

Movieversalfilm Trailer of the Week

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew takes the verdict. Greta Gerwig’s first trailer resists the easy route of wardrobe nostalgia and instead sells the thrill of a world being made, carried by two young leads and a cast led by Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep. A record-breaking first week of views suggests audiences are ready to follow her back to the very beginning.

Which of this week’s five trailers has earned the first place on your watchlist: Narnia, Edgerunners 2, Ramayana, Frisco King or Tony?
